Dear M.A.C.,

I've noticed that West Main Street in Crawfordsville has ridges for several blocks. What's up with that?

BOUNCY

Crawfordsville

Dear Bouncy,

"The ridges on West Main are caused by ties on the old inter-urban railroad," said Scott Hesler, Crawfordsville street superintendent.

When the inter-urban was discontinued and the street was paved, the ties were not removed, the paving crew just laid pavement right over them.

Hesler said there are no plans to smooth the street.
