Spring holds promises to look forward to

While talking with Dave Peach on Thunder 103.9 Tuesday morning, the thought occurred to me that we have some really neat things coming up.
It has been a terrible winter, as everyone knows. No news there! Tuesday morning we were completing a weekend with my daughter and her family in Missouri.
The plan was to come home by noon Monday. But, the storm that turned out to be not so much here was an ice storm in Rolla, Mo., where my son-in-law teaches at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. So, thanks to that great invention, the Internet, and another invention, the cell phone, I was able to update our website with weather information Saturday and Sunday and do some interviews and file stories for Monday and Tuesday editions of The Paper.
We nearly didn't make it down the country road to Route 63 Tuesday morning. We almost slid off once and came too close to a head on with a minivan on a sharp curve but after we were on the Interstate, everything was great.
We did see at least one car and semi that had slid off I-44 and I-70, but at least it wasn't us!
Back to my phone conversation.
In the little chit chat we do at 8:30 a.m., we were talking about good news that came out of Monday night's city council committee meetings-new investment and a few more jobs! We talked about churches and individual Christians who will celebrate Ash Wednesday and Lent.
And it occurred to me we also have high school basketball sectionals, Easter and, yes, Spring!
Baseball is around the corner, Dave reminded me.
Hey, the next few months will be great!
Yes, we saw a couple slide offs but the car's thermometer kept pushing 32!
Hallelujah! Enjoy your spring!
