Who owns the Ben Hur building and when is the police tape going to be taken away?
I went on the hunt and wound up talking with Crawfordsville Mayor Todd Barton. Here's what he had to say in response to your question.
"The building is owned by the Chamberlain Group from Salt Lake City, Utah," said Barton. "The owners recently paid for an engineering study of the exterior of the building which showed that some additional work needed to be done to the exterior terra cotta. The city is working with them to find the best course of action so that the tape can be removed."
Barton said that the building has been unused for some time. The last occupant was Ben Hur Life, an insurance company. He said that the building has been through a few owners since it was last occupied.
"It's something we are working on," Barton said. "We're trying to find the right developers and investors to find the right use for the building."
Thanks for the question. Safe walking!
