Crawfordsville Flower Lovers Club met on March 1 at St John's Church. President Paula Furr welcomed the 30 members in attendance. Following the prayer, refreshments were enjoyed by all. Hostesses for March were Kim Ruggles, Diane Fairfield, Donna Stewart and Becky Hankins. March birthdays were recognized. President Furr thanked the executive committee for creating the 2017 schedule. Special thanks was given to Jo Anderson for creating the beautiful yearbook. Roll call was taken and the treasurers' report was approved. The by-laws have been updated requiring that members and guests must be 18 years old. It was also stressed that we are a working club and involvement in events and meetings is also a requirement. Everyone must participate in this years' Arts and Garden walk on July 25th for it to be a success. Sign up sheets were circulated for the Master Gardners' Show and the Garden Walk which includes seven local gardens. Workers for the Garden Walk will be scheduled in 3-hour shifts. Flower Lovers Club will also have a booth at the Master Gardeners show on March 25 at the 4-H building.
Kathy Houghton announced that she is holding an artist event at her home on June 1 to June 4. All artists are encouraged to come and create art inspired by her garden. The Athens Gallery will be open on the day of the Garden Walk to display works created at her event. The next meeting will be April 5 at St John's Church. The program will be cool weather containers. We will then go to Davidson Greenhouse to make our own 12" planters with soil provided by the club. We must purchase our own plants. All planter caregivers held a short planning meeting for suggestions concerning planting material for 2017.
