A business meeting was held on Monday, Dec. 5, in a meeting room at the Crawfordsville Public Library with President Jennifer Hunter presiding. The meeting began with the opening verse followed by announcements of birthdays and anniversaries. Pam Karle took roll call. Michelle Dice collected cheeseball money. Brea Carlson attended to give the chapter information about the Athenas at Crawfordsville High School. The treasurer’s report was given by Pam Karle, which was approved as presented. Angie Griggs provided the minutes which were approved, as corrected.
For correspondence not requiring action, there was a thank you note from Mental Health for a donation and the Riley Messenger.
For correspondence requiring action, we received a letter from the Crawfordsville Firefighters asking for a donation for the Shop with a Firefighter program. Nancy Buckles made a motion to decline. Jennifer Slavens seconded it and the motion passed. The Athens Art Gallery asked for a donation. Vicky Reynolds motioned to donate money and the motion passed. Hear Indiana asked for a donation, as well. Janeane Murphy motioned to table the request till next year’s budget. Pam Karle seconded it and the motion passed.
There was not old business to discuss.
In new business, it was mentioned that new member candidates need to be submitted in writing to Michelle Dice before the February meeting. It was also mentioned that the officer nominating committee is being formed. If any member is interested, they need to contact President Jennifer Hunter.
Committee reports were given. For cheeseballs, Pam Karle said that she has cheeseballs for sale if anybody needs some. Michelle Dice also has extras for sale. Jennifer Slavens discussed doing a limited edition cheeseball. For Everyone Reads, set-up will be Friday, March 10th. There were still a couple openings for committees. For cards and flowers, Pam Karle said to let her know if there are any cards that need to be sent out. For fundraising, Jennifer Slavens discussed having a charity ball. She also discussed having a canvas painting party.
The meeting was adjourned following the closing verse. The next business meeting will be held Jan. 2 at the Crawfordsville Public Library at 7 p.m.
