Sugar Creek Squares dance the night away
Sunday, November 25, 2012 9:00 PM
The November dance sponsored by Sugar Creek Squares Square Dance Club was held at the Crawfordsville Park & Recreation Center on Saturday, Nov. 17. The theme for the evening was "Salute to Veterans." Club caller, John Holman and cuer, Pam Stultz, called and cued to a floor full of dancers from all the neighboring clubs. There were 52 guest dancers, two guest students, 30 Sugar Creek Squares members and six Sugar Creek Squares students attending! Greeters for the dance were John & Carolyne Fischer. Patti Holman and Debbie Hunter took care of kitchen duties for the evening. Patti Holman also provided the walk prize which was won by Trisha Sembroski of Lafayette Fun Squares. Half-pot prizes were won by Ken Schuele of Illinois and a couple from Ontario who were visiting the dance. A free pass for an upcoming dance was won by Cyd Hunter of Terre Haute's Swinging Mates Club. Also, guests from Swingin' Singles club of Lawrence came to retrieve their president's tie. The tie had been given to Sugar Creek members for bringing a full square to a Swingin' Singles dance a few months ago. In order to retrieve the tie, that club was required to bring a full square to a Sugar Creek dance.
There was a brief business meeting preceeding the dance to vote on officers for the coming year. The slate of officers was approved.
During the dance, a silent auction bake sale was also held. Club members provided an abundance of goodies to sell. The sale was a great success. Proceeds from the bake sale will help pay expenses of new dancer classes.
Sugar Creek members have recently traveled to Veedersburg, Lafayette, Fishers, Terre Haute, and Danville for more of fun dancing!
The next dance of the Sugar Creek Squares Square Dance Club will be held on Dec. 17 at the Crawfordsville Park & Recreation Center, 922 East South Blvd., Crawfordsville, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The theme for the dance will be "Christmas Ball.' John Holman will call the square dance tips and Carol Anderson will cue the round dances.
