The Boys and Girls Club annual 5k was off with a great start Saturday morning. Runner No. 939, Marsha Borden came for St. Franciscan Health and Wellness program, ready to run in support of the Boys and Girls Club. Bobby Horton took a moment to thank all of the runners and the sponsors for their on-going support. They have raised over $15,000 that will go to all club after school programs.
The race is part of 5X5K, a series of five races sponsored by Franciscan Health Crawfordsville and Franciscan Physician Network. The 5X5K will continue June 10 with the Strawberry Run, July 15 with the 4H Color Run, Sept. 16 with the Franciscan Community Day 5K and conclude Nov. 23 with the Sugar Creek Trail Thanksgiving Day Pie Run.
A new option this year is to “replace a race.” A participant may participate in four of the races listed above and may submit an alternative or replacement race that is scheduled between March 18 and Nov. 23, 2017. The replacement race must be a 5K (or longer). Participants must submit an official registration form/receipt of purchase as well as provide proof of finish and the official time. Registration confirmations and finishes are maintained by the individual race sponsor.
In 2016, 24 participants completed all five races and received a running jacket.
