The National Day of Prayer was observed in Montgomery County on Thursday in front of the main entrance to the courthouse. The theme was "One Voice, United in Prayer," highlighted by Romans 15:6 Dave Peach, general manager of the Crawfordsville radio stations, began the event with the reading of the 2014 National Prayer composed by Anne Graham Lotz. That was followed by prayers from seven county residents, focusing on different topics. Friendship Baptist Church Pastor Chris Hortin prayed for government, Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ Pastor Alan Goff (bottom right) for media, Minister of Pentecostals in Crawfordsville Sharon Sharp for education, J.M. Thompson Insurance President Monte Thompson for businesses, Freedom Baptist Church Pastor Jim Ranard for churches, New Hope Christian Church's Kaleb Smith for families and Friendship Baptist Church's Jim Benge for military and emergency services. The event ended with a singing of the Bill and Gloria Gaither song "The Family of God."
