City of Crawfordsville officials issued a brief press release this morning that said the Crawfordsville Police Department received Officer Jeremy Wuestefeld’s notice of resignation Wednesday.
The release, which was sent via e-mail at 9:28 a.m. Thursday, said that CPD Chief Mike Norman began disciplinary proceedings against Wuestefeld for an April 5, 2017 incident. It also noted that the department gave the information to the Indiana State Police.
The Crawfordsville Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners were set to review the disciplinary charges Wednesday but that Wuestefeld resigned on Monday.
There was no mention of why there was a three-day gap between the former officer's resignation and release of the information.
The press released concluded with the following: "The City of Crawfordsville and its police department rarely discuss ongoing investigations or employment matters. Although the city police will keep the public informed of developments, neither the police department nor any other city departments or offices will comment further before the investigation is complete."
