The Montgomery County Commissioners are moving forward with plans to find a replacement to outgoing Veteran's Service Officer Claude Johnson.

Friday morning the commissioners set a time and place to interview the seven candidates for the position. Johnson submitted his resignation Dec. 7.

The commissioners will interview candidates Jan. 8. Commissioner Phil Bane said he asked County Councilman Dick Chastain and two members of the American Legion to sit in on the interviews.

"We (the commissioners) have the final decision," Bane said.

The commissioners set the interviews at their meeting Friday morning. Bane said that each interview will last about 30 minutes.

Commissioner Terry Hockersmith was pleased to get the interviews scheduled early in January.

"That way when we choose someone they can start the orientation," Hockersmith said.

Johnson previously said that he would stay on until Feb. 1, 2013 to train his replacement.
