It takes a lot of committed people to keep the Montgomery County Free Clinic operating at a high level to provide services to those in need locally. Some of those folks will be honored at this weekend’s Golden Apple event at Wabash College.
The Golden Apple continues the tradition of Christian Nursing Service, dating back to 1980, to honor volunteers for exceptional dedication to the clinic’s mission of providing health and dental care and to preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Bryan Welch DDS and Kristina Welch will be honored for generously volunteering their services to the Dr. Mary Ludwig Free Clinic, providing free dental services to uninsured patients.
Janie Rader, Rita Curry, Toni O’Toole and Beth Simpson all work in the cafeteria and prepare Meals on Wheels daily. They prepare the food and help to package it, and they even make deliveries when the volunteers are unable. They will be honored as well.
The Honorable Judge Harry Siamis, president of MCFC, will emcee the event. The board includes: Candy Royer, Judge Siamas, Christine Amidon, Paul Pfledderer, Dr. John Roberts, Lora Hess, Rev. Gary Lewis, Janet Rucker, Cheryl Leech, Rebecca Lang, Pamela Miller, Morris Mills, Nancy Sennett, John Tidd, Lyle Fogel, Patrick Burnette, Rick Warner, Julie Bergfors and Debbie Schavietello.
