Indiana Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville) has been named the chairman of the Pension Management Oversight Commission as well as a member of the Unemployment Insurance Oversight Committee for 2013.

"These study committees provide the legwork for much of the legislation that gets heard by the General Assembly during session," Boots said. "I urge members of the community to stay involved, follow the issues and offer your thoughts."

Boots was chair of the Pension Management Oversight Commission three years ago. And he is currently the chair of the Pension and Labor Committee. During periods when the Legislature is not in session lawmakers are assigned to interim study committees that meet to review the state's top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session. Sen. Boots is one of the owners of The Paper of Montgomery County.
