NEW MARKET - The South Montgomery School Board met Monday with all members attending. The board approved three members each of certified personnel and non-certified personnel for the district. They also approved the coaches for winter sports and three additional coaches for elementary sports. The focus of the meeting was on the Southmont swimming pool. The board was concerned that they were approving coaches, but the pool is not in a functional condition. Southmont Athletic Director Aaron Charles cited an issue with the pH level in the pool. A certified pool operator is needed to oversee daily testing and make sure that the water is safe for swimmers. The board asked for a solution from Charles within seven days. Charles said that other options were being considered for if the pool cannot be made usable by the Oct. 22 start of swim practices. These options include the pool at Crawfordsville or Wabash College.
