    He was born in Lafayette on March 3, 1938 son of the late Robert and Evelyn McKnight Martin.

    Ellie, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Hillsboro on April 7, 1928. She was the daughter of the late John Henry “Mobe” and Jennie E. (Spicer) Cramer.

  • Thomas “Tommy” Thompson

    Thomas Curtis “Tommy” Thompson, 85, Darlington passed away Thursday morning, June 22, 2017.
    Born June 20, 1932 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Damon Curtis Thompson and Gertrude Gray Thompson. 
    He graduated from Darlington High School in 1950 and Purdue University in 1954, where he earned a BS in Education, later earning a Master’s Degree from Indiana State Teacher’s College. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan from 1954-1956. He married Shirley Hawkins on June 20, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. She survives. Mr. Thompson was a teacher, coach and athletic director at Tuttle Jr. High School for 34 years. He spent his entire teaching and coaching career in the Crawfordsville School System, coaching baseball, basketball and golf at every level. He lettered in baseball at Purdue for three years. He was golf coach at CHS for seven years, winning four County Championships, three sectionals and one conference. His 1989 team finished 13-2 and won the County, Conference and Sectional Championship. He also coached baseball for nine years and finished with a record of 61-36 and a winning percentage of .629, second only to the current coach, John Froedge. He was inducted in the Crawfordsville Hall of Fame in 2014 and Montgomery Co. Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. Mr. Thompson was a life member of the Darlington United Methodist Church. While at Purdue he was a member of Kappa Sigma. He was a current member of American Legion Post 302 and the Elks.

    Kale G. Galloway, 9, rural Waynetown, heard his family’s last prayers at 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 in Riley Hospital for Children and took flight to be with the lord. He has bravely battled cancer the past 7 years. 
    Kale was born in Lafayette, Sept. 30, 2007 the son of Douglas Alan and Jessica Nicole Mitton Galloway who survive.
