Paul A. Myers, 82, Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017 at the Brownsburg Health Care Center.
Born March 9, 1935 at Dowagiac, Mich., he was the son of the late Jack and Mary Clark Myers.
Mr. Myers graduated from Tri-State University (now called Trine) and served in the United States Army. On Aug. 12, 1961 he married his forever soul mate, Joan Denno in Buchannan, Mich. She survives. He did research as a mechanical engineer for several places, including Clark Equipment, Eaton Corporation, Raybestos and Haldex Manufacturing and retiring in 2000 from Haldex Manufacturing in Prattville, Ala. For the next six years, he owned his own consulting business, Brakeman Consulting. He was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville and had been a member of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) for more than 50 years and had received a United States patent for brake design. He enjoyed woodworking. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He will be remember most for his big and generous heart, continuous desire to education (Professor Grandpa) and his soft hands.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Dawn (Tim) Hutson of Crawfordsville and Robyn (Macayla) Walker of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren, Brandon (Brittany) Hutson, Megan (Aaron) Morrison, Whitney Hutson, Adam Walker, Gabrielle Walker and Jordan Walker; four great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Ruth Tourangeau of Stevensville, Mich. and Kathy Harris of St. Joseph, Mich.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, March 20 at Woodland Height Christian Church with the Rev. Tony Thomas and the Rev. Steve Wilke officiating. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and VFW. Friends and family may pay their respects two hours prior to service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
