Crawfordsville will look to get back into the win column Friday night when they host the Lebanon Tigers for Homecoming night.

Lebanon’s (4-2, 3-1 SAC) only setbacks this season have come at the hands of Boone County rival Zionsville, 55-54 and Tri-West, last week at Lucas Oil Stadium, 56-48.

North Montgomery celebrated 20 years since the 1996 team brought home the IHSAA State Championship title. The Chargers won back-to-back titles in 1995 and 1996. Charley German, sporting the orange football polo and khaki shorts, was the head coach for those teams before retiring. He came back to the Chargers football team to become an assistant coach this season.

North Montgomery will honor the past, Friday night when they host County and Sagamore Conference rival Crawfordsville.

The Chargers will honor their state championship football teams from 1995 and 1996 and they will also celebrate Homecoming. The guys on the gridiron will look to earn their first conference win against the Athenians in the meantime.

This is what I expect for Friday’s North Montgomery vs Crawfordsville game. I expect the crowd to be a record crowd. You might as well plan on being there early because I have no doubt it will be stand room only. It is going to be a fun game with a great crowd atmosphere. That will be fueled by an exciting game that will come down to the wire. What I’m saying is you really don’t want to miss this game, it’s really big deal.

Crawfordsville and Southmont will head into Friday evening’s matchup looking to keep pace in the conference and secure the county title, a feat that has eluded both team since 2007 and 2013 respectively.

FRANKFORT – Missed opportunities. Those are the two words that can haunted Crawfordsville’s return trip to Frankfort Saturday afternoon to complete their weather shortened game from Friday. The Hot Dogs (2-2, 1-1 SAC) were lined up for their conversion attempt after Malik King’s touchdown to give the Hot Dogs a 22-16 lead with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter before a lightning strike, and subsequent downpour, halted the game to Saturday.

Crawfordsville and Frankfort withstood each other’s best shots before Mother Nature put a halt to the game with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter and the Hot Dogs leading 22-16.

One possession is what the game between Crawfordsville and Greencastle came down to Friday night.

Unfortunately for the Athenians, it was the Tiger Cubs who made that one play to escape with a 27-20 season-opening win.
