The game of volleyball is all about momentum and sustaining rallies. After falling behind 2-0 to visiting West Lafayette (8-3, 1-0 Hoosier), Crawfordsville got some momentum and earned a hard fought 25-22 win in set three.

They carried that momentum to fourth, as they were one point away from sending the match to a fifth and final set, before West Lafayette caught fire, scoring the last nine points of the match to pull off a 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 26-24 win.

The Athenians were able to keep things tight throughout the first set with neither team leading by more than five points.

Crawfordsville met Attica for the second time in two weeks Thursday.

After disposing of the Red Ramblers 25-11, 25-5, on Aug. 22 to help them claim the North Putnam Invitational, the Athenians again swept their visitors, 25-14, 25-16, and 25-18.

After leading 18-12 midway through the first set, Crawfordsville scored seven of the final nine points for the win.

Attica kept things interesting in set two. They held a slim 5-4 lead before Caroline Schueren recorded one of her seven kills on the night to knot things up at five. Big sister, Paige, would record one of her four aces to give the Athenians a 7-5 lead.
