North Montgomery celebrated 20 years since the 1996 team brought home the IHSAA State Championship title. The Chargers won back-to-back titles in 1995 and 1996. Charley German, sporting the orange football polo and khaki shorts, was the head coach for those teams before retiring. He came back to the Chargers football team to become an assistant coach this season.

This is what I expect for Friday’s North Montgomery vs Crawfordsville game. I expect the crowd to be a record crowd. You might as well plan on being there early because I have no doubt it will be stand room only. It is going to be a fun game with a great crowd atmosphere. That will be fueled by an exciting game that will come down to the wire. What I’m saying is you really don’t want to miss this game, it’s really big deal.

LINDEN – The Chargin’ Chargers looked to take advantage of the long break Saturday afternoon as they took on Lebanon.

They completed a half of play on Friday night before the incoming storm and lightning caused the game to postpone. Behind 19-0, North Montgomery pulled out all the stops on Saturday to give the home fans a show. The Chargers would eventually lose the game 40-9.

“Our kids were excited to get back out there, the time away gave us a chance to regroup and reenergize.” North Montgomery head coach Thompson said.

The Chargers came out swinging, starting the game off with an onside kick in an attempt to change the dynamic of the game. Lebanon recovered and took over at the 28-yard line. North’s defense came through with a huge stop to keep the momentum in their favor.

If you look at records coming into Friday’s game at Southmont, you’d think the Chargers would have the upper hand

North Montgomery’s rushing attack abused the Benton Central defense in their matchup on Aug. 19. The Chargers collected 218 yards on the ground, more than half of those yards were gathered by the feet of senior Caleb Randolph.
