With Danville’s three-point win over Lebanon Tuesday, the Class 3A, No. 7, Warriors have set themselves up to claim a share of the Sagamore Athletic Conference crown.

It would be their third consecutive title. Standing in the way of that championship is Crawfordsville, who will be looking to defeat the Warriors for the first time since 2007.

The Athenians (8-12, 1-5 SAC) are also coming off a win Tuesday. They defeated Attica, 61-42, behind 23 points from Konnor Smith. The senior entered the game averaging just over seven.

Crawfordsville is led in scoring by Devin Guard who averages 12.3 per game, while Trent Johnson and Cameron Harris both average nine.

Danville (18-4, 5-1 SAC) enter the contest on a five-game winning streak, which includes wins over Class 4A Avon and McCutcheon. Their only conference loss was to Tri-West, 53-55, on Jan. 29.

They are led in scoring by Ryan Cloncs’ 17.3 and Jake Elliott’s 14.

Danville leads the all-time series against the Athenians 20-1, including the last 11 in a row. Crawfordsville’s lone win was 53-49 back on Feb. 16, 2007.

The Athenians look to deny the Warriors a share of the crown and send their seniors, Smith and Ryan Barr, out winners in their last home game in front of the Athenian faithful. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
