    Frankfort and Lebanon swim teams competed today to see who will move on to the sectional finals Saturday.

    Zionsville ended the IHSAA Girls 2015 Sectional for Swimming and Diving on top with 538 points. They won by 225 points over second place McCutcheon. Lebanon ended the Sectional in 7th place with 151 points, placing in four events. Frankfort placed 8th in the meet scoring 131 points while placing in five events.

    You lose some, you win some. The Frankfort swim team experienced this tonight. Boys lost 102-77, and girls won 100-70.

  • Athenians capture boys' Sagamore swim and dive crown

    Thanks to their depth and execution, the Crawfordsville boys are the Sagamore Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving champions. They edged North Montgomery 391-299 Saturday at Crawfordsville to take first place. Western Boone was a third with 279 points. Southmont clocked in at seventh, with 164 points. On the girls' side, Lebanon was the class of the field. Their 356 points edged Danville's 351.5 and was well ahead of third-place North Montgomery's 270.5. Crawfordsville was seventh (225) and Southmont eighth (131).

  • Finals set for Sagamore Meet

    The preliminary rounds of the Sagamore Athletic Conference swimming and diving meet took place Thursday at Crawfordsville High School. All three Montgomery County schools put swimmers in the finals, which take place Saturday at Crawfordsville.

    Crawfordsville earned a total of 23 swims in the finals. Thomas Fairfield earned two of those swims and will be seeded first in the 100 yard breaststroke. He will also swim in the 50 yard freestyle. Calvin Chaney will join Fairfield in the 100 breaststroke. Juan Huesca also earned two swims, the 100 yard and 200 yard freestyles. Sam Malott and John Servies will join Huesca in the 200 free. Malott will also swim in the finals of the 500 yard freestyle, joined by Dalton Humphrey. Davis Thompson and Reeve Hawkins will join Huesca in the 100 free. Jacob Pruett and Conner Franke will swim in the 200 yard IM. Pruett will also swim the 100 yard butterfly. Franke, along with Westin Evans, will swim in the 100 yard backstroke finals.

    The Crawfordsville swimming teams split with Sagamore Athletic Conference rival Frankfort on Tuesday.

    Frankfort won the girls' portion of the meet, 108-74. Crawfordsville won the boys, 106-77.

    Crawfordsville will be back in action Thursday with a trip to Danville for more Sagamore action.

    DANVILLE - The Danville and Frankfort swim teams split a meet Saturday at Danville.

    The Danville girls defeated their Sagamore Athletic Conference opponent 108-70, while the Frankfort boys won 93-80.

    FRANKFORT - The Southmont swim team was swept by Frankfort on Tuesday. The boys lost 129-51 and the girls lost 122-52.

    Maddi Wickholm was a double winner for Southmont. She was first in the 200-yard IM (2:29.71) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.74). Nikki Wickholm won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:18.48. Taylor Hester was the only other winner for the girls. She touched first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:23.08).

    FRANKFORT -- The North Montgomery swim and dive team traveled to Frankfort and saw another record fall. Ashlynn Bennett brok her own school record with a diving score of 232 Tuesday. That helped the girls to a 105-78 win. The boys tied with Frankfort, 90-90.
