The fall sports are slowly starting to wind down. On Saturday the golfers were not able to advance out of a tough regional so their season has come to an end. North girls advanced to the regional as a team, which was rather impressive considering this was a rebuilding year for them. Last year they graduated all but Morganne Carpenter. This year Carpenter was the only senior on the team. The Chargers will miss Carpenter as she has been consistently among the top golfers in the county the past couple of years. She is a really smart kid too-after all she is an IU and Cincinnati Reds fan-so clearly she knows the right teams to cheer for. I hope she is a Colts fan too!
Lori Poteet is The Paper's ace sports photographer. You probably have seen her out at one of the local high schools. She usually has a camera in her hand. Lori's column, From Behind The Lens, will appear each Tuesday in The Paper. You can also follow her on Twitter @LoriPoteetPhoto.

This week the boys' tennis sectional will begin at Crawfordsville. For most of the season, members of the Crawfordsville boys' tennis team have been the road warriors. The new courts at Crawfordsville High School are finally done after countless delays due to flooding issues. The courts look great!
So who will be crowned king of the new courts? Well Crawfordsville certainly looks to be the favorite. They have had an awesome season. However, it's sectional time and anything can happen. The first round of the sectional is tomorrow at Crawfordsville; head on out to watch some tennis and check out Crawfordsville's new pretty blue courts. I bet the tennis guys will be thrilled that I called their courts pretty.

I always like to point out positive things that athletes in Montgomery County do. Friday night, as most of you know, North gave Crawfordsville a pretty hefty beating. However, despite North having most of the highlights you have to hand it Crawfordsville. They never gave up. They are intent on building their program and they are taking some hits along the way. I have been impressed with Trent Johnson throughout the season. The kid does not play like a freshman! He is out there giving it 100 percent every play. Friday he stepped up to start as quarterback for the opening quarter. That is kind of big game to have to step into and he handled himself well. Heck The Athenians did score on their first drive to take he early lead. It just did not last long before the Chargers over powered them.

Like I said I always like to point out positive things our athletes are doing. So please if you know of something let me know. It does not have to be a star athlete just let me know some positives things that maybe I'm missing. Anything that a local athlete is doing that makes them stand out. Maybe it's overcoming an injury or doing something good for our community. Feel free to stop me at a game and let me know!
