The Lebanon girls' golf team lost their match with North Montgomery Wednesday night.

However, the Tigers only lost to the home team by two shots.

“If we played the course tomorrow the girls would be ten shots lower.” Coach Mick Milakovic commented.

Lebanon was led by match medalist Maci French with 40. Freshman Katherine Patterson and sophomore Lexi Fortson shot career lows with 45 and 55.

  • Golf season wraps up
    Sunday, September 28, 2014 7:23 PM
GREENWOOD-The girls' golf season has come to an end for teams from Montgomery County and the Sagamore Athletic Conference. North Montgomery, Lebanon and Southmont's Heather Ruby competed at the Roncalli Regional Saturday, held at Smock Golf Course.

Carmel won the event with a score of 312. North Montgomery was 16th with a team score of 403. Lebanon was 12th at 366.

Ruby finished the day shooting a 90.

The Chargers were led by Kennedy Bonwell's 89. The magic of three 88s that they had at the sectional was not to be had this week. Megan Douglas was the only other Charger to stay under 100 with her 94.

  • Chargers, Ruby advance
    Sunday, September 21, 2014 5:37 PM
It was the performance of a lifetime. And for it, they'll play another week.

The North Montgomery girls' golf team shot the best round they've every shot at the Crawfordsville sectional and advanced with a third-place finish. The round of 365 was better than the previous best (set in 2012) by one stroke. The Chargers tied Lebanon for second place with the score and the Tigers won the fifth-golfer tie breaker.

Zionsville won the event with a team score of 332. Southmont was fourth at 407 and Crawfordsville was seventh at 474.

The Chargers got 88s from their top three golfers: Kennedy Bonwell, Abbey Woodard and Megan Douglas.

"We didn't really have a number in mind. We focused on the mental side. We wanted to focus on hitting a good shot, one shot at a time. Focus on your gameplan for that shot and execute it," North Montgomery head coach Mark Shadiow said. "Smock is a lot longer than this course. It's a different layout, different type of course. We'll work on our long approach shots and putting on the bigger greens."

  • Chargers 2nd at SAC
    Sunday, September 14, 2014 7:21 PM
Temperatures were lower than they have been and scores were higher.

That was the story of the Sagamore Athletic Conference girls' golf meet on Saturday at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

After a long day of battling the conditions and the course, Lebanon went home as the winner thanks to a low round of 354. North Montgomery was second at 411. Southmont took fourth with a team score of 430 and Crawfordsville rounded out the county teams with a 465 for sixth place.

"We'll take second for sure. We knew Lebanon was going to be tough to beat. Megan (Douglas) played really well. She had 10 5s in a row," Charger mentor Mark Shadiow said. "We were hoping our scores would be a little lower than that. We were hoping we would be in the 300s. Before the sectional we need to eliminate our huge numbers. Seems like every girl has two or three just really big numbers. We have to minimize the damage."

Sagamore Athletic Conference powerhouse Lebanon got the best of Crawfordsville Tuesday at the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course. The Tigers carded a team score of 173 to The Athenians 243.

Regina Go led the Athenians with a 51. Shania Harrison (60), Olivia Grady (62) and Maggie Greer (70) rounded out the Crawfordsville scoring.

The ladies will be back in action Thursday at Northview where they will be joined by Greencastle for a triangle meet.

LEBANON-North Montgomery took second in a triangle golf meet against Lebanon and Frankfort Wednesday. The Tigers won the event with a team score of 181. The Chargers shot a 216 and the Hot Dogs rounded things out with a 245.

Kennedy Bonwell shot a 50 for North Montgomery.

"We weren't ourselves tonight. We were spraying the ball all over the course and struggled everywhere except for on the greens. Scout (Groves) played her best round of the year and locked in a nice fourth score for us tonight, which was a huge positive. We hope to be more comfortable and more competitive at home tomorrow," coach Mark Shadiow said.

The Chargers golf today with Southmont and McCutcheon.
