Crawfordsville's wrestling team narrowly defeated Western Boone on Wednesday night by a 39-37 score.

"It was a good win for us," said Crawfordsville head coach Roger Tribbett. "We wrestled very well."

The two teams split the weight classes winning seven each.

Crawfordsville won three on forfeits Dalton Scaggs (106), Jonah Shillings (113) and Tyler Bilyeu (145).

Cam Douglas (126), Ryan Blanton (132) and Nathan Bean (285) won by pinning their opponent.

Tribbett said that Douglas wrestled an "outstanding match" and that is technique was good against a quality opponent.

Robert Manns (195) was the other winner for Crawfordsville as he defeated his opponent by decision.

With the wins, Manns and Bean remain as the only Athenians yet to lose a match this season, improving their individual record to 6-0.

Crawfordsville (5-1) will next play in the Western Boone Invitational on Saturday.
