Ally French and the Chargers blocked Southmont’s way in the County race.
NEW MARKET-It was a county clash. And for a set it lived up to the hype. At the end of the night, it was North Montgomery that took the early county volleyball advantage with a 3-0 win over Southmont.

The Chargers narrowly took the first set 25-23, but soon found their rhythm over the hosts. The last two sets went the North Montgomery way, 25-15 and 25-16.

North Montgomery's success from their striking and aggressiveness. Lindzy Sabens had eight kills and Cortney Kolger and Ally French added seven and six, respectively. Megan Warren did the setting, offering 28 assists. Brook Karle led the defensive effort with 16 digs.

For Southmont, Breanna Mason offered 13 assists and Abby Bullerdick led the way with five kills. Kaiti Chadd was credited with 10 digs and three aces.

North Montgomery (5-3) will go to Fountain Central Tuesday. Southmont (1-7) is right back at it with a trip to Cascade Thursday.
