Courtney France (top) and Owen Byers are among a handful of local riders that have spent their summer racing ATVs in the west-central part of the state.
The Midwest Cross Country Series (MWXC) sponsored by TwinCity Motorsports recently held the Raccoon Creek event near Bridgeton on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. Forty-Nine youth riders raced the youth course on Aug. 3.

AB Racing rider Austin Bratcher raced his Badlands, Motocrossvest.com and AB Racing backed Apex 70 to a second-place finish in the 70 Open ATV Class and 29th-place finish in the overall. Bratcher said "the race was fine. I slid the track nicely."

AB Racing rider Olivia Bratcher raced to an eighth-place finish in the Girls SuperMini ATV Class and 47th in the overall riding her Badlands, Motocrossvest.com and AB Racing backed Honda 250.

WingNut Racing rider Ty McGaughey raced to a fifth-place finish in the 90 Stock ATV Class and 40th-place finish in the overall. McGaughey said "it was a long, fast track with some good hills and a few muddy spots in it. I didn't get the finish I wanted because I stopped to help a friend that was stuck. Helping a good friend is better than a plaque. I would like to thank Right On Motorsports, Mager Enterprise, ITP, TwinCity Motorsports, Cook ATV Racing, Powermadd, Ty's Ice, Winner's Circle Design and B & E Offroad for backing my Honda TRX 90."

Alex Bunch Racing rider Alex Bunch raced to a seventh-place in the 90 Modified ATV Class and 44th-place finish in the Overall. Bunch said "he would like to thank Ty McGaughey for helping me get unstuck. Thanks to Westfield Powersport, TwinCity Motorsports for backing my DDR 90."

Owen Byers raced to a 19th-place finish in the SuperMini's ATV Class and 43rd-place finish in the overall.

Twisted Sister's Racing rider Hailey France raced to a third-place finish in the Girls SuperMini ATV Class and 13th-place finish in the overall. France said that she thought the track was laid out great and she had a lot of fun. "I would like to thank Mud Motorsports, B&E Off Road, Westfield Powersports, MWXC, Mager Enterprises, Twin City Motorsports, Power MADD, Becky and Kevin Chase, Grandma, Dad and Mom for backing my Yamaha 250 Raptor."

Twisted Sister's Racing rider Courtney France raced to first-place in the Girls SuperMini ATV Class and seventh-place finish in the overall. Courtney said "the race this weekend wasn't one of my favorites, but it was still a pretty good track. There was a pretty good amount of hills and the straight a ways were good except they were rough. The track was a good length and the weather was perfect! I would like to thank Mud Motorsports, B&E Off Road, Westfield Powersports, MWXC, Mager Enterprises, Twin City Motorsports, Power MADD, Becky and Kevin Chase, Grandma, Dad and Mom for backing my Yamaha 250 Raptor. I can't wait until next year!"

Round 8 of the MWXC sponsored by TwinCity Motorsports will be Aug. 30 and Aug. 31 near Attica for their Forbidden Land event. Please refer to the website http://www.midwestxc.com/ for the race schedule and directions.
