Memories and teammates. Those were the themes that rang through the halls of the Sparks Center at Wabash College on Saturday night when the Southmont Hall of Fame inducted their second class. Nine individuals and one team were inducted, and the Board of Directors officially put the Hall in the hands of its members.

Jason Cottrell, Dave Coudret, Ken Coudret Jr., Barry Dove, Jak Farson, Kyle Myers, Lyle Sanders, Dan Taylor and Mike Hallas were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Additionally, the 1971 football team was inducted as the first ever team. Its members and coaches are still eligible for individual inductions if they have not already been.

"These individuals are giants in the history of Southmont athletics and we are anxious to honor them," said HOF President Dave Taylor. "We are hopeful that in honoring these fine inductees and this special, once in a lifetime team, we can show the student athletes of Southmont that they can reach their dreams."

Each individual received an introduction from someone already in the Hall that was special to them and then gave a speech. Every inductee spoke of the memories made with teammates both on and off the field. Stories flowed from the podium and the group recalled their glory days. With nearly every speech, there was mention of Ken Coudret. The Coudrets were unable to attend, but were honored at every turn. The evening ended with a moment of silence for the family, and a standing ovation when Ken's name was announced as the head coach of the 1971 football team. The team went undefeated in the first year of the school's existence.

In coming years the members of the Hall will vote on the individuals nominated for induction. Previously, the board of directors voted.

"The honor we bestow upon these inductees is long overdue," closed Dave Taylor.
