DOVER-After shellacking Western Boone to the tune of 23-0 on Mountie turf Tuesday, Southmont found a more focused Star team Thursday in Dover. The Stars won the game 7-6 thanks to a single by Clay Biesecker to center.

It appeared early that the game would be a high-scored, albeit more evenly-matched affair similar to Tuesday. The squads traded three-run first and the Mounties added two in the third and another in the fourth. Western Boone knotted things up at six in the home half. That score held to the bottom of the seventh.

After a walk, a sacrifice and a single, the Mounties elected to put Nathaniel Bye on first and pitch to Biesecker with the bases loaded. He came through for the Stars.

Mitch Dehne, Austin Jones, Risty Bullerdick, Scott Madison and Nick Taylor had the five Mountie-hits. Western Boone helped out with eight errors. Bullerdick had two RBIs. Dehne and Jones had one each.

Southmont (5-7, 2-5 Sagamore Athletic Conference) is back in action Tuesday at Frankfort.
