Southmont 10-runs Turkey Run; Crawfordsville wins lightning-shortened game

NEW MARKET-Southmont played host to Turkey Run in Friday baseball action and snuck in a 15-5 win before lightning struck. The Mounties wrapped things up in six innings.
Boone Welliever went the distance for Southmont, striking out five to get his second win of the year.
Mitch Dehne pitched in on the offensive end with a two-run dinger. He scored three times. Devin Miller tallied four hits and drove in three runs for the Mounties. Nick Taylor was 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Austin Jones, Mason Mott, Risty Bullerdick, Aaron Cox and Welliever all had RBIs.
Southmont (7-9) will entertain Greencastle at 10 a.m. today.
The Crawfordsville baseball team picked up a lightning-shortened non-conference win over North Putnam Friday, 10-5.
The Athenians jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning. They added three more in the third and countered the Cougar's rally with a four spot in the fourth. North Putnam plated two in the fourth and three more in the fifth before the game was called in the home-half.
Shad Conrad had two hits, and drove in three runs. Dane Baldwin, who also had a pair of hits and a double, and Nathan Baer drove in two runs each. Caden Jones and Sam Page each had an RBI with Page's coming from a solo-home run.
Nick Corbin worked four and a third on the mound, allowing just two earned runs. Jones also pitched, allowing just two hits.
That Athenians (15-6) will play New Castle at 11 a.m. today and North Newton at 2 p.m.
