Hannah Hungerford makes a dive to get a dig for Crawfordsville. The Athenians lost to Western Boone in straight sets.
With starting libero Kassidy Bonebrake out due to an injury, the Crawfordsville lineup looked a little different in a straight set loss to Western Boone on Tuesday night.

"That forced us into several changes," said Crawfordsville head coach Kelly Johnson.

"I thought for having a new lineup on the floor we played amazingly well."

Bonebrake broke a bone in her right hand in a match at the Clinton Central Invite on Saturday. The team only had one practice to prepare for a tough Western Boone team.

Lacey Garrett played at libero in her place and had 11 digs. Taylor Luft led the team in digs with 13 and also had 17 kills.

Trailing 14-11 in the first set, the Lady Athenians went on a 9-0 run to take a 20-14 run. However, the Lady Stars answered right back going on an 11-2 run to close out the first set and win it 25-22.

The second set wasn't as close as Western Boone never trailed in a 25-10 victory. Johnson said they knew the Lady Stars would come out on fire and the set was also difficult because missed serves led to Luft playing a lot in the back, not allowing the Lady Athenians to capitalize on her front row play.

The third set was a lot closer and was tied 19-19. Western Boone pulled that one out as well 25-22 to claim the victory.

Crawfordsville in now 15-7 (2-2 SAC) and will travel to Danville on Thursday.
