LIZTON- The Southmont baseball team was defeated by Tri-West 8-2 in a Sagamore Athletic Conference Game on Tuesday.
Southmont kept up with Tri-West in the first half of this game, but seemed to run out of steam in the latter end. The Mounties were tied 1-1 after two after Cam Chadd was able to score. The next inning, Risty Bullerdick got a hit to bring Clayton Berrisford home and give the Mounties the lead 2-1 after three.
Tri-West scored seven runs across the fifth and sixth innings with no response from Southmont to give them the victory. Boone Welliever went 2-for-3 on the night, the best on the team. Bullerdick and Ryan Stanley had the team’s two RBI’s. Cole Wemer pitched the majority of the game for South and ended with five strikeouts before Cole Roach came in to finish out the game. Roach had two strikeouts in just over an inning pitched.
Southmont’s record now falls to 2-3 for the season and 0-3 in the conference.
Their next game will be on Thursday at home for a second chance against Tri-West.
