The Tri-West ladies soccer team lost a neck and neck game Wednesday night against Cascade.

Cascade just barely walked away with a victory in their 3-2 defeat over Tri-West. “We did a much better job containing Cascade during the second half,” said Coach Elainna Kish, “I was pleased with the effort and perseverance shown by our entire team.”

Tri-West takes on their next opponent Sept. 9 at Sheridan.

LIZTON-They only played a half before the storms came, but the final will count as No. 17 Tri-West defeated Southmont 4-1 Thursday.

Southmont got on the board first thanks to an unassisted goal from freshman Macy Zachary. Tri-West got going midway through the half and scored their four goals in the last 20 minutes.

"We looked good. We scored first and took it to them for the first 20 minute," Southmont head coach Alfredo Villalpando said. "I think we just started making mistakes defensively. A team like Tri-West will punish you if you make mistakes."

The Bruins out-shot the Mounties 7-6 and Southmont goalkeeper Abby Rivers made four saves.

Next for Southmont (4-9-2) is a sectional matchup on Tuesday with North Putnam. The teams have met twice already this season with the Cougars winning both matchups, including a shootout win at the Southmont Invitational.

LIZTON-Hannah Whicker got her 100th career goal, but the Lady Athenians fell short in a Sagamore Athletic Conference clash with Tri-West on the soccer field Monday. The Bruins won 2-1.

The game was tied with 37 seconds left to play when Tri-West scored on a corner kick. The Bruins led 1-0 at the half, but Whicker tied it up with a goal off an assist from Cali Saunders. Whicker score with nine minutes left in the game.

"It's frustrating and encouraging at the same time," Crawfordsville head coach Brent Bokhart said. "A couple of mental lapses on the defensive end were the difference. We had a lot of chances to score, but that's the way it goes sometimes."
