Gilligan, USS Minnow Dock at Harmony Theater

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale . . . “Gilligan’s Island: The Musical” takes The Harmony Theater stage from Saturday through Sept. 27 in Hillsboro. This production is directed and choreographed by newly-appointed Artistic Director, Kate Walker; with music direction by John Phillips.

“Gilligan’s Island: The Musical” is a family friendly stage musical version of the ever popular and iconic ‘60s TV comedy show “Gilligan’s Island,” created by Sherwood Schwartz. Shipwrecked on a remote Pacific island, the seven castaways build huts and begin to explore their surroundings. They discover strange hieroglyphics in a spooky cave, which speak of an ancient legend. The weather gets rough, Gilligan foils the best-laid of the castaway’s rescue plans … romance develops … the castaways have an out-of-this-world encounter … it’s fun, wacky and entertaining with 18 original, tuneful and memorable songs.

This musical features words and music by Hope and Laurence Juber with book by Sherwood Schwartz and Lloyd J. Schwartz.

The cast of comprised of many actors returning to Harmony –  Xander Haan as Gilligan, Nathaniel Wright as The Skipper, Don Hart as Thurston Howell III, Teresa Ross as Mrs. ‘Lovey’ Howell, Lillian North as Ginger Grant, Andrew Meyer as The Professor and Lexy Perez as Alien. New to the Harmony stage is Anabella Niewiadomski as Mary Ann.

“Gilligan’s Island” will feature a food menu filled with guest favorites, as well as new items themed to the production. Several specialty selections come from “Mary Ann’s Gilligan’s Island Cookbook,” such as ‘Mr. Howell’s Life of Leisure Meat Loaf’ and ‘Lemon Chicken from Mars.’ As usual, all meals will include the fresh-baked homemade rolls and the signature broccoli salad, a long-standing tradition at the theater.
