It’s time to get fit, funky and festive to raise some money for the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau.
The YSB will hold its third annual Funky 5k at Milligan Park on Saturday with sign-in beginning at 8 a.m. and the race at 9 a.m.
MUFFY will coordinate this year’s event, which was previously coordinated by the YSB’s Juvenile Mentoring Program.
According to Jennifer White, the Junior/Senior High Youth Advisor at YSB, the event raised around $3,000 each of the previous two years.
“We’d be really excited to reach those numbers this year as well,” White stated.
Participants in the 5k, will also be judged to determine who is the flashiest, funniest, funkiest and fastest runner, with prizes being awarded to the winner of each category.
Attendees are also encouraged to wear a costume of their choice to the event to show their Halloween spirit, being that the event happens in October.
“We’ve seen some pretty funny and interesting costumes the first two years,” White explained. “There has been a mother and daughter dressed as Tweedledee and Tweedledumb. Kat Burkhart also dressed as the Titanic one of those years.”
Anyone who is interested in participating in the 5k should contact Jennifer White at MCYSB at 765-362-0694 or by email at Jennifer@mcysb.com. You may also register at the bureau’s office located at 209 E Pike St in Crawfordsville.
