With cases going up in Montgomery County, the Health Department on Friday announced plans for two new COVID-19 testing sites, including one that will launch operations next week.
Beginning Tuesday, drive-thru testing will be available at the former Horner’s Automotive dealership, located at 221 N. Green St.
Testing will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The site will be closed on holidays. Current plans are for testing to be available at this site through June of next year, depending on the availability of appropriate supplies.
Testing is free to all residents, with or without symptoms. A doctor’s order is not required. However, anyone wanting a test must register ahead of time. To register, go to www.coronavirus.in.gov, find the “Click here to find a testing site” link at the top of the page, and then click on “Register for testing at a Community Test Site”. After entering the 47933 Zip Code, the community testing sites in Montgomery County are displayed with a link to schedule an appointment.
Direct links can also be found at www.montgomerycounty.in.gov.
A second community testing site in Crawfordsville is expected to open next month. Details will be released closer to the time.
Testing will continue to be offered at the Franciscan Health Crawfordsville campus, 1710 Lafayette Rd., Crawfordsville. The site is open only to those with a doctor’s order with testing available from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The new testing site is made possible through collaboration between the Montgomery County Health Department, the City of Crawfordsville, the Crawfordsville Community Paramedicine Program, and the Indiana State Department of Health.
