WAVELAND
Ron R. Keedy
waveland@thepaper24-7.com
** Sweet corn, scads of locally grown produce (freshly picked), homemade baked goods and preserves (much of it Amish) along with arts and crafts booths will be featured at the July 27 Waveland Farmer’s Market. Beginning at 6 p.m., in the Waveland Town Park, and lasting until everything gets sold, this month’s gathering of goodies comes at the peak of the growing season.
** Waveland’s own Hopkins Brothers, Mike, Tony and Dan, will perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday on the Waveland Town Park stage during the Farmer’s Market and before Movies Under The Stars. The ever popular brothers will entertain with their own original compositions along with their unique style of country and gospel music. This is a FREE concert to benefit the Waveland Veterans Memorial so there will be donation jars around for FREE WILL donations. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Waveland Veterans Memorial project.
** Speaking of MOVIES UNDER THE STARS, this month’s movie is the blockbuster WONDER WOMAN starring the beautiful Gal Godot. The famed comic book character comes to life on the giant town park screen as WW battles the bad guys to save the earth. It’s, also, a beautiful story of family and loyalty and what it means for a young woman to take her place in the world. Female super-heroes are few so don’t miss this one! WONDER WOMAN is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 2 hours and 21 minutes. The fun starts at 9 p.m. and the SNACK BAR will be open!
** Here’s a last chance to see local author (and columnist for The Paper of Montgomery County) Karen Zach’s original play Down On The Farm and have dinner, too! Her play will unfold on stage at the Russellville Community Center on Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. as a dinner theatre performance. Tickets are $12 (at the door) for dinner and the play. Dinner service begins at 6 p.m. The Russellville Community Center is located at 308 N. Harrison St., Russellville. For further information contact Karen.zach@sbcglobal.net
