The Linden Carnegie Public Library is so excited to announce the launch of their 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge - all important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.
Beginning Feb. 1, 2021, folders with information about the program and your child’s first reading log can be picked up at the library. All families are welcome to participate! Stickers are earned for each 100 books read and once a child has completed 1,000 books they will earn a book bag and certificate of completion. Those that complete 1,000 books read will also be able to place a bird with their name on our beautiful tree on the wall in the Children's Area. The tree was created and installed by Bunny Sutton, long-time patron of the library and the library staff is very grateful!
