Welcome back to Bits’n’Pieces, a weekly look at some of the interesting, funny, comical and sometimes outright weird things that happen in and around Montgomery County. Have something you think should go into Bits? E-mail it to us at bits@thepaper24-7.com, won’t you please?

WE DON’T OFTEN use this space for much seriousness, but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the many, many of you who have been so supportive during our transition from more online editions and fewer in print. Like a lot of you, a lot of us are traditionalists and we like holding a printed paper, too. But it’s hard to argue with thousands of customers who prefer it electronically. Still, we weren’t sure how the change would be greeted and once again you all have proven why Montgomery County is such a special place. To paraphrase our favorite Indy 500 singer, thank you, thank you, thank you!

EVEN THOUGH it’s a few days late, Happy New Year from your friends at the little paper that could. Hey, we know there’s another newspaper around here but nobody, and we mean nobody, is as much fun as we are – and we know it just drives those other guys crazy!

JUST A REMINDER, the little paper that could has Indianapolis Home Show tickets and you can get a pair absolutely free! All you have to do is send us a selfie showing your smiling face while holding The Paper (either print or online)! You can e-mail or text those to selfie@thepaper24-7.com! If we publish yours in one of our upcoming editions, you win! But keep watching, because it’s up to you to “catch” yourself and claim your two tickets!

KUDOS TO military veteran and all-around good guy Mike Wren. He told a roving reporter this week that a series of circumstances resulted in his entire family having time off at Christmas! It’s great when good things happen to good people! Good for you, Mike, and thank you for your service!

ASK MAC? What do you ask MAC? Well, if you have not met him yet, MAC stands for Montgomery Answer Connection and he’ll get the answer to all your tough questions. Want to know why your tax dollars go to this or that? E-mail the specific question to askmac@thepaper24-7.com. He will go straight to the source and give them the opportunity to answer. No matter what they say, he’ll report back to everyone every Wednesday in The Paper of Montgomery County – the one and only place to find MAC (and Bits’n’Pieces, and John Marlowe, and Tim Timmons, and Ginger Claremohr, and Dick Wolfsie, and Indiana Facts & Fun . . . this could go on a while, so we’ll stop here).

OUR MYSTERY Guest last week was the smiling face of Dr. Janet Rucker. She was correctly identified by Joyce Brown, Judi Kleine, She Wren, Kristi Tesmer, Lou Ann Neff and Marvin Swick.

The winner, as selected through a random drawing, is Kristi Tesmer.
Congrats, Kristi! Stop by The Paper any time after the first of the year between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to pick up your winnings!
This week, our Mystery Guest has a stuffed resume and owns a business in addition to working for one of the city’s most important departments. Regular readers of The Paper will know that this outdoorsman even appeared on a Canadian TV show called “All Bears TV.” His day job is focused on safety, but he enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time. He and wife Janet have two sons – Darrin and Dalton - and two grandbabies.
Know who it is? E-mail us who it is at bits@thepaper24-7.com or give us a call at (765) 361-0100, ext. 22!
