The deadline for submission to the Carnegie Museum Mural Project is fast approaching.

"The mural will be located in the lobby of the Carnegie Museum, Indiana's first Carnegie Library building, providing excellent visibility and exposure for the artist chosen," Carnegie Curator Kat Burkhart said.

The criteria for the mural are: The mural must cover or utilize the majority of the wall, be appropriate for a family audience, be primarily two dimensional and feature or promote Montgomery County in some way. The wall space is approximately 30 feet by 12 feet.

"Artist compensation for this project is $3,000 plus the cost of supplies," she said.

All submissions must be received by 9 p.m. on April 1. Submissions must be on paper, no bigger than 18" x 24". Sketches may be in black and white, though if color is proposed, please provide an explanation of what the final product will look like. Sketches will not be returned.

"Preference will be given to current and former residents of Montgomery County," Burkhart said. "Students are encouraged to apply."
