Local non-profit group Humans United for Equality invites the community to the 3rd annual Celebration of Unity. This FREE event will be Saturday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pike Place.
This family friendly event will be a great opportunity for community members to learn more about one another and to celebrate how diverse Montgomery County is. There will be many children’s activities, such as face painting, piñatas, multicultural games, crafts, and a bounce house. The Candles Holocaust Museum will have a booth with memorabilia and books from Holocaust survivor Eva Kor. To raise funds for future community events, Humans United for Equality will be selling raffle tickets with the chance to win a pair of Apple Air Pods.
All games, crafts, entertainment, and activities will be free of charge. Complimentary grilled hot dogs will be provided by Hoosier Heartland State Bank, as well as free popcorn courtesy of Town and Country Homecenter. Enjoy performances by the mariachi band Zelaya and local musician Maria Monsalve. Food will also be available for purchase from 1832 Brew, Norvell’s soul food, Bravo Fernandez Tacos, Wildfire 348 Pizza, and Dippin Dots.
If you are wishing to donate or volunteer, please email Sarah Reed at humansunitedforequality@gmail.com. This event has been made possible by HUE members, community volunteers, as well as Wabash College and the Journal Review for their monetary donations.
