Throughout 2018, the county engaged in the process of developing its first ever comprehensive plan. Now, after months of work and extensive public outreach, the Montgomery County Comprehensive Plan, which was created using data reflecting residents’ visions for our community, is ready for review.
The public will have an opportunity to review, ask questions and comment about the plan at one of three presentations:
Dec.10th – North Montgomery High School, 6 p.m.
Dec. 12th – Crawfordsville High School, 6 p.m.
Dec. 13th – Southmont High School, 6 p.m.
“This long-term plan is our county’s guide for the future,” stated Jim Fulwider, President of Montgomery County Commissioners. “The plan will provide direction to the county commissioners, county council and planning commission when making decisions regarding roadways, housing, economic development, utility service, parks and recreation and more. Your input was invaluable in creating this draft. I encourage you to attend one of the meetings to review the plan to make sure it characterizes your vision for the future of Montgomery County and provide any additional input.”
“The comprehensive plan is a collaborative effort to define the community’s integrated, all-encompassing vision and strategy for itself,” stated Chris Hamm, Senior Planner HWC Engineering. “The timeframe for the plan is intentionally long-term (10-20 years) to ensure it reflects a vision that will survive changes in leadership within the community over time. The goal is to do what is best for the community as a whole. This community has so much unique potential and this plan is a roadmap to help deliver on that potential. We look forward to presenting the draft and hearing what residents have to say.”
