Residents can move about Montgomery County more freely now, but only to a point.
The restrictive red travel warning was downgraded to orange Tuesday at noon. Orange means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.
Improving conditions warranted the change. However, almost all roads remain snow covered and many are still very treacherous. Drivers should allow extra travel time and alert others to departure and projected arrival times so that people are aware in case something goes awry.
