The Tippecanoe Arts Federation is excited to announce the beginning of a new program in collaboration with the City of Lafayette, Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette, Greater Lafayette Commerce, Downtown businesses, and local artists. Downtown Lafayette will come alive on the First Friday of every month to draw on the power of the city’s arts and culture scene to support small businesses. The first Downtown-wide event date will be May 7, beginning at 6 pm.
While First Friday began as an evolution of TAF's Gallery Walk program the committee hopes to create a deeper and more consistent connection between Downtown business and local art – and in turn, improve quality of life for community members. Over 20 Downtown businesses will stay open late and host an artist or live music. A full list of participating businesses and artists will be available in the coming weeks.
Dennis Carson, City of Lafayette Economic Development Director, states, “First Fridays will be an exciting event for Greater Lafayette and downtown. Combining art, commerce, entertainment and food will make for a fun evening and a great way to kick off the weekend. We are excited about working with TAF and everyone on this as we put these challenging times behind us and safely return to normal.”
First Friday Lafayette is made possible with support from Duke Energy, The Russell Company, and Hustlefish. For more information please follow First Friday Lafayette on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
