Gabriel Little, a Southmont Junior High student, was presented with the Montgomery County Young Hero Award Tuesday at the Montgomery County Civitan Club Meeting. Little was honored for his extensive community service and in particular for raising $4,500 for Freedom Boxes and organizing and helping pack the Freedom Boxes to be sent to members of our armed forces. In addition, he partnered with Home Depot for the donation and the building of a storage shed for the Blue Star Mothers that is now used for storage of their supplies so they can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our military personnel currently serving to protect our freedoms. The Montgomery County Civitan Club is excited to recognize Gabriel Little for his outstanding community service.
The purpose of the Montgomery County Young Hero project is to recognize the efforts of youth, either individuals or groups, within Montgomery County for their efforts to improve the lives of individuals or the community as a whole. Young Heroes are recognized based on a number of criteria including impact on the individuals and/or the community. A new Montgomery County Hero will be selected a minimum of twice a year, spring and fall.
