Montgomery County Community Foundation is once again partnering with Putnam County Community Foundation to host a Nonprofit Learning Series for local nonprofit organizations. Topics center on issues related to the operation of a nonprofit organization. The four part series begins March 12 with Building a Governance Legacy. It takes place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Country Club.
Attendees will discover the tools and practices of exceptional governing teams. They will cultivate a shared understanding that fosters mutual accountability and engagement. This lively and interactive workshop, geared for both staff and the board members will examine:
• The Board Building Cycle—what are the key components and how are you addressing them?
• Governing Responsibilities—what makes a board responsible? How are you fulfilling your legal duties? Where are you on the governance continuum?
• The Board/Staff Constructive Partnership in Board Building—Board roles vs staff roles and how to develop a partnership.
• Building an Engaged Board—what does this look like and how do we assess our work?
Susan Decker is the Director of Master of Leadership Development, at St. Mary of the Woods College and is a Senior Governance Consultant at BoardSource. She has extensive experience in nonprofit governance, management and fundraising at the national and local levels.
To register for the workshop, one may stop in the MCCF office at 119 E. Main Street or go to www.mccf-in.org. The fee is $20 with lunch included. Advance registration is recommended; registration at the door will be accepted only as space allows. The registration form is under Grants/Nonprofit Resources and online payment may be made through the Donate Now button; direct payment to the NPLS Workshops Fund.
In addition to our partnership with Putnam County Community Foundation, MCCF is grateful for the local sponsorship provided by Hoosier Heartland State Bank.
