A Crawfordsville man is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest after being shot Monday night

Josh Tribby, 40, of 2460 W 300 S, had driven his tractor to his barn when he heard a single gunshot. That shot struck Tribby in the chest and he drove the tractor back to his home to call for help.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, the call was received a little after 9 p.m. Monday. Various units from Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies, Crawfordsville Police, Indiana State Police, Waynetown Police and Crawfordsville Fire responded to the scene along with a crime scene technician from the Indiana State Police. Tribby was transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth in Crawfordsville and then flown to St. Vincent's in Indianapolis.

"He's doing good," said Tribby's son Ty. "He's doing better. They're going to take breathing tubes out (today) and see where he goes from there. He's responsive. He can't talk but he can nod his head yes or no. All in all he's getting a lot better."
