Did you know that the brain is the only organ in the body that is not developed at birth? Michael Cox, Principal of North Montgomery High School, visited with the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club on Thursday and explained the importance of training the brains of our children.

Educators today are looking at new ideas to help educate our children including educational neuroscience and studying sleep patterns of children. Studies show that 60% of our children do not get enough sleep and that includes 57% of children ages 2-4 when 90% of their brain develops! 65% of 8-11-year-old children also do not get enough sleep.

We, as adults, can do a lot better for our children. Studies also show that parents spend 9 hours and 22 minutes per day on personal screen time either while at work or at home. Are you spending enough time with your kids?

Come on out and visit us any Thursday to hear other interesting speakers like this. We meet at Noon at the Crawfordsville District Public Library downstairs in the Donnelley room.
