Mike Tricker, Southmont High School Principal, spoke to the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club members Thursday about some of the exciting changes at Southmont and the re-establishment of the Key Club at the school.
As a graduate of Purdue University Mr. Tricker, and his wife Kim began working at Mooseheart, a school and residence in Aurora Illinois. The founder of Mooseheart, James J Davis believed that every child is entitled to a High School Education and training in a trade. Tricker later brought that philosophy to Crawfordsville when he became principal at Southmont 16 years ago. Working with students to build a career pathway through internships and partnerships with local businesses is a way to shape their future.
Through the core values of Key Club, including Leadership, Character Building, Caring and Inclusiveness, Tricker believes that Key Club will also work to shape the future of Southmont Students. The Southmont High School Key Club, under Faulty Advisor Marci Huckstep, has recently held two events in which they raised over $600.00 for a Strides for Cancer event and collected over 780 games for Riley Hospital!
If you would like to hear some of the amazing speakers at Kiwanis or are interested in hearing more about Kiwanis join us any Thursday at Noon at the Crawfordsville District Public Library.
