Next up in Myers Dinner Theatre’s 22nd anniversary season will be a comic tribute to the Humphrey Bogart films of the 1940’s! Murder at Café Noir opens tonight at 6:30, and runs through Oct. 20.
This 1940’s detective story come to life features Rich Archer, P.I., who is sent to find to find a curvaceous runaway on the forgotten island of Mustique, a place stuck in a black-and-white era. The owner of the Cafe Noir has washed ashore, murdered, and Rick’s quarry was the last person seen with him. Rick employs his hard-boiled talents to find the killer. Was it the French madame and club manager, the voodoo priestess, the shyster British attorney, the black marketeer, or the femme fatale? The audience votes twice on what they want Rick to do next, and these decisions change the flow of this comic tribute to the Bogart era. This interactive Murder Mystery will be directed by MDT Artistic Director, Jeremy Littlejohn with Music Direction by John P. Blair of Crawfordsville.
Murder at Café Noir stars MDT Alumni T.J. Besler of Iowa as the Bogart-esque Rick Archer. Besler has appeared previously at Myers Dinner Theatre earlier this season in Nana’s Naughty Knickers. Joining Besler in the tropical paradise of Mustique will be MDT Alumni Mary Anne Cecil of Romney as club owner Madam Toureau, Elsa Scott of Missouri as Femme Fatale Sheila Wonderly, Martin Flowers of Nappanee as Black Marketer Anthony Cairo, Don Hart of Columbia City as the shyster British Attorney, Simon Gutterman, and Jason Ryan Wallace of Lafayette as three different characters. Lauren Morgan of New York makes her MDT debut as Voo-doo Priestess Marie LaRue.
