** The holiday spirit got off to a great start this past Saturday with the Waveland Town Christmas Celebration. It was a town-wide celebration with maps distributed to attendees so they could make stops at all the businesses and organizations around town such as a visit and photo op with Santa plus storytelling at the library, “make a Christmas card” at the Country Dollar Store, games and hot chocolate at the fire station and Christmas crafts and videos at the WCIA Church. Santa was escorted around town by the Waveland Volunteer Fire Department first responders and arrived to a waiting crowd at the Waveland library. Over 100 families and kids celebrated food, family, fun and friendship at this annual event.
** On behalf of the WCIA (Waveland Christians In Action) Church, the NSSB (North Salem State Bank) branch in Waveland is accepting donations to help stock the WCIA operated food pantry. Non-perishable, unopened, boxed foods along with labeled canned goods are welcome. Soaps and detergents, personal items such as toilet paper, tooth paste and shampoo and diapers, hats, gloves, scarves and socks are being sought. Cash donations will be accepted as well. As an added bonus, the NSSB Waveland Branch is offering a free gift to all donors (while supplies last). The drive is ongoing now with no ending date in December as long as donations keep coming in. The NSSB Waveland Branch is located at 206 Cross Street in downtown Waveland, IN. Donations will be accepted during normal business hours. Please call (765) 435-2675 to make sure the branch is open.
