November saw the Waveland Elementary School and gymnasium finally hit the auction block.  Owners, Ralph and Brenda Jones bowed out and new owners, Charles Alsip and his son, also Charles, took charge.
Their plans for the elementary school are to turn it into a rental storage facility; the kitchen, cafeteria and historical gym will become an event venue.  The event venue will be separated from the storage units by a wall.  The parking lot behind the school will be used to store RVs, campers and boats.
Likely names for the new businesses will be Schoolhouse Storage and Schoolhouse Venues with the storage units opening in February and the event venue ready in late spring.
No changes are planned for the historical gymnasium.
